Time For A New ECTOs Community Forums Banner

Since [meh] is on the outs, the Agents Of Indecision [meh] banner is outdated. It's time for a new one.



Banner theme can be anything:

As for actual banner themes, it doesn't matter specifically. Whatever works for the majority. Just try and come up with something we won't all get sick of in about a week.



Text on the banner:

Choices:

1) A banner with ECTOs Community written on it

OR

2) A banner with both resident guild names on it:

We Play High End For Double [Onyx]

Visionary Masterminds [xEYE]

OR

3) No text on the banner at all. (Just a banner image)


Although the first and third options don't seem all that enticing, keep in mind that the header message underneath the banner has both tags listed (Home Of [Onyx] And [xEYE]) so the relevant info is up at the top of the forums regardless.



Banner Dimensions:

NO GREATER THAN 1000x300 pixel dimensions

This is completely irrelevant to the post sorry, but what exactly is xEye? Is it a kurzick guild, sister guild, guild for alts, something else entirely?

i need to get up and do a few things around the house... but um... a banner with the pyramid eye thingy and an onyx could be the alternative to actual text on an image or textured bg. just a thought. bbl.

The P in Play is kind of hard to see. Doesn't look bad. The chest should be highlighted more in order to see it better.

Ill try and make something. i mean, the ones we have had in the past are probably a little better than what ill put together, just because i dont have the cool pictures of guildwars areas that other have had. unless someone has some pictures? i can make something out of them.

lol Blake, it's a code that you can type in your sig whenever you make it to display other users names. Whoever looks at it, it displays their name. I got confused with it the first time as well. Here is the link to get all the codes.

ha, thanks. it took like 3 hours. i might re-enter another one, with a few things changed. like the eyes on it. i like the onyx patter i made, but the eyes could use work. or different colors.

Change the font color to something more appealing to the eyes. That color can end up giving someone a headache.

I still have to install Photoshop on this computer after my Windows 7 installation, so for the next few days at least, I'm shit out of luck with regards to working on images myself.

okay, ill work on something. but were these any good? or something that the ectos community would like as a banner. of course ill change them, since right now the theme is onyx and eyes... but ill come up with something.

They're alright, Blake. Nothing really jumps out at me though. The one with the blue font and the fiery eyes (your first one) was the best IMO.

What I would like to see is a banner where the names don't look so slapped on over the rest of the image but blend in nicely.

Kept it simple using GW2 concept art from Guild Wars 2 site with filters and using CS5 content aware feature on the right edge because the picture was not wide enough.

Take the apostrophe out of ECTO's and it looks good.

I really like that Reaves. Especially the thing under the lettering, it fits so well with the picture.

Going to go with Reaves's banner for now. If someone comes up with something that stands out better then we can change. As it stands, we have a [meh] banner so we need something different.

Not too crazy about that banner either, Blake. And for the record, Onyx is We Play High End For Double [Onyx], not We Farm... Blake, your fonts are all over the place and largely distract from the picture they're on instead of co-existing with it. That works for signature pics but not for banners.

Shiro/Joe, in your latest banner the background image used is pretty cool, but the bland font and out of place-looking icons are turnoffs.


See how the text in Reave's banner seems to fit in with the image and isn't just thrown on there? That's what I'm going for. With Reave's Golems pic, even though it is a crop of an already-existing pic, it has a little bit of everything that makes a banner work: style, substance, and a blending-in font and accompanying icons (ie. that little hand-clasp image under the text).

Reave's banner really fits well with the forums scheme and theme IMO. I think we should go with that for the time being. Feel free to keep throwing together banners, however. If something comes along that is noticeably improved on that then we can change.
