Basically, I'm not looking for a "it's your char, do whatever you want" answer but I'm looking for which class is more fun to play. I will be going for survivor with this profession and I just wanted opinions on what profession you guys prefer to play. I already have an ele but I havent played it in ages and I have never played a warrior which I feel like I am mission out on something because it feels like everyone has a warrior.

I like my war better than my ele. In fact my war has GWAMM while my ele sits and waits for events to farm.

Elementalists can have a wider diversity of skillbars. When I'm using my Ele it seems like I'm never using the same bar twice. When running Warrior, I tend to fall in love with one particular weapon and skillbar and run that almost 100% of the time. For instance, right now I'm always running an axe with Warrior's Endurance-Power Attack-Body Blow-YMLAD-Brawling Headbutt and couldn't be happier.

It's the exact opposite for me, Del. Lol My warrior farms while my ele is my main (and I still farm on her too).

Although I hear that Ele is pretty easy to get GWAMM on. Never really played a War or Ele, but I prefer casters, myself.

With the coming Farming Nerf i would say hold off for a bit before you lock yourself in on a character. Personally I love my sin because I can do anything on him with relative ease and success. There's a Crit everything and they all work.

Steve's right though Ele's can also run a multitude of Bars whether it be Mass dmg, or Uber healing. I love my ele since I made her for DoA and FoW. I won't go out and make her a GWAMM but I'm not going to ever abandon her. SF spamming is hella fun.

I'm having Loads of fun on the new Rit I just made too. Spirit-spamming just over-whelms most anything. Great for farming as well.

Take your pick man. Lot's of play styles and lots of bars out there to be run.

rangers are the worst class in the game, seriously...



anyway ele is for fun to me than war, with blind and mele attack range you spend most of your time running and swinging at something to find out that its dead before you really have done anything.

what can rangers do.

Interrupt? Mes do that better

Spread conditions? Necros can do that better

Damage? Eles Rits hell even wars can do that better.

its not that they are bad at what they do, its just that everything they can do something else does better.

Yea rangers do suck in my opinion, the only thing they have got going for them is Splinter Barrage really. PvP wise, I love using my ranger especially for GvG because they really are versatile but PvE wise, as roman said, another profession always beats the ranger at something they do.

IA + apply poison = the best condition spread hands down. and thats why they are used in gvg because they can snare interrupt and condition spread all on one bar, instead of having 3 different people playing just for one or the other.

i'm talking PvE only, i know almost nothing about PvP. Rangers might rock there but not in PvE.

Some skill for u to think about... Traps, EoE, Frozen Soil, Greater Conflagration, Winter, Symbiosis, Fertile Season, Melandru´s Resilence... just to name a couple that come to my mind now. Those are very useful in PvE in my opinion. but i do agree rangers shine much more in PvP, of course.

Some classes in PvE that are worse than Ranger:

Assassin: 1 useful skill, and it's getting nerfed. When is the last time an Assassin was used in a non-gimmick build? Are we really clamoring for critical scythe?

Paragon: 1 useful skill, and it can be used with a secondary. Ranger can run Barrage, Triple Shot, and Infuriating Heat to power Save Yourselves and contribute some damage while they are at it.

Mesmer: Mostly single-target. Their best skills are all just as useful as a secondary. Only really useful in PvP.

Dervish: Maybe the worst class in PvE. Warriors do just about everything better.

Oh well... Im kind of tired of same old 'Mesmers are only useful in PvP' Mainly due to that argument and because of it not being able to get into groups, I did all campaigns, NM and HM, vanquishes, etc with my mes mostly with Hero & Hench or even with just hench, before heros were introduced, and before also PvE skill were introduced and VoR was change to AoE damage. It all depends how u play and set ur team really. If u dont know what a mes can do, or a ranger can do, then it will be the worst class in game for u of course.
As for Assasins, yes, i want to see how many ppl will play them after SF is nerfed. I had my sin for a while now and try to avoid using SF except for runinng areas. Just cos i like to do things in different ways the majority does. For my sin i mostly found very effective a AP conditions sin with a FD fragility mesmer, Smite monk (NOT ROJ) and a LB prot monk as heros.
Dervish i use a caster AoB with ALOT of AoE damage with almost same heros as sin, but change mesmer for SoS Splinter rit. Of course, this could be also used not just with heros, but with real people, but real people is mostly just wanting to use proven SC builds so are not willing to try any other build in most cases. Thats why they keep saying this class is not useful and stuff...
Anyway, just my opinion. I really like diversity in game not just always run the same specific build over and over again.

Oh... and i dont know much about paragons, only just started playing them... in PvE i mean, played them quite alot in GvG.

Idk if you have played a paragon as long as I have you tend to notice a lot of team support and if you pay attention can make a very effective build for the area you are in even w/o SYS

Yea I wouldnt say that ranger is the worst class in the game because dervish is absolutely pointless unless youre running people which i know some people like to do. I actually enjoy playing my ranger sometimes but i do agree that its better off being replaced by a more helpful class when available.

But i definately wouldnt say that rangers are better than mesmers. Maybe paragons but definately not mesmers lol uber interupt without line-of-sight or worrying about the opponent dodging or the attack missing (which is like ranger interupts on crack) just my opinion


BUt back to the main point of this thread. I have both a warrior and an ele. My warrior was my first character and i love him but eles are very fun. If you already have an ele then why not make a warrior and play your old ele a little more?

Well, I'll definitely concede that Mesmers are better at interrupting without LOS, but I tend to leave interrupting to heroes/henchman anyway. I will still put Rangers above Mesmers because, while neither is perfect in PvE, a Ranger has a lot more flexibility in build selection, and Mesmer doesn't offer much in a primary that you can't get with an E/Me or even N/Me.

Anyway, so I think the ele is more FUN to play than the warrior... But then again, I'm a caster person, was never really fond of melees.

Thanks for you opinion guys and girls, I really appreciate everyone who posted and thus helped me make my decision. I think I am going to make a survivor ele but I am going to wait a couple of weeks until the nerf to skills and see if that heavily impacts my decision.
