Just curious as to who bought the War In Kryta Costumes, if any, and which ones.


I'm still on the fence personally, although I'm leaning towards a purchase sooner or later (before the 2-for-$9.99 deal runs out). I'm also waiting to see if ANet adds anything else for purchase at the in-game store with this War In Kryta shit just in case there's something else I'd rather purchase added instead. (I'm only willing to spend so much at this point on a practically-abandoned game.)


I don't like that damn White Mantle costume at all. It makes you look like a mental patient who has trouble dressing his/her self who tried to dress his/her self. I mean, one leg has armor scales and the other doesn't, the cape is crooked, the female upper-body has an overly thick cape wraparound part to the front, the helmet looks like one of those cardboard Burger King crowns, etc. What a disaster. ANet calls that a White Mantle disguise?! Shit, I'd love to be on the Shining Blade and encounter White Mantles wearing that shit. You'd see them coming a mile away.

No complaints with the Shining Blade costume. I saw the pics on Guru where it can make your character appear fatter from the side, but that's not an issue for me.

I bought both.

I really like the leggings/heels combined in the Mantle costume for female. I like the SB costume with the added shadow effect over the eyes.

We got both. Don't care for the mantle outifts they are way to bulky and silly looking for me. But the shining blade is pretty nifty... as all chars can now have a 'derv' hoody with outfits.

Some charactors face skins look better with out the hood, but all in my opinion look good with the body piece. I dyed mine yellow brown green i think...i forgot to take screeniie before i did it. but it turned out a mossy green which looks better than the default green .. to me. but it looks good many dif colors.

even though i do not like the mantle i dont regret bying because it always seems down the roads something ends up working together... like the grenchy hat thing that looks like an elf beenie with ears... looks funny with that armor i used to make myself look like an elf... so IDK. in the end its up to you and whether you like toying with those sorts of things, since currently there is no real purpose besides fun for costumes.

I bought them both. I quite like both Shining Blade and White Mantle on female, though I've not really seen many males with them. I think that the SB hood goes well with the WM costume if you dye it red.

Both, love the mantle shoes, and the ranger look of shining blade.

but the Shining Blade dyed white on a male sin makes you look like the guy from Assassin's Creed

the male mesmer and male ranger looks 'beefier' if thats a word LOL. id say hotter but meh, they are graphics on a comp screen no turn on there. LOL

Throwing this fun fact in. I do believe that the war in kryta is an allusion to the conflict between Ireland and England... where the shining blade is the "radical" IRA and the white mantle is the "oppressive" british...

EDIT: I did buy both costumes, I prefer the shining blade. But I left the default mantle body and red shining blade coif on my male rit... looks pretty cool tbh.

i dont buy ANY costumes, what a waste imo, whats the point of elite armor if u are wearing a costume?

for fun. sheesh kodi. with a simple click you can hide the costume. not that big but you can wear really ugly armor and no one would know.

Just wanted to update and say that I eventually gave in and purchased the costumes for both of my main accounts this past Sunday. With the Shining Blade hood, my Creepy Butt Pirate Mesmer now looks like a Badass Druid Mesmer!

LOL! hoodie does look good with everything mixmatched but its fun to play with it. makes some chars look so much better. i was wondering if ya ever decided to go for it. fun fun.
