My only concern is that they'll sweep some legitimate players in with this (hello, Kodi?). |

| Get used to it. From Regina Buenaobra over on GWO IncGamers: | Regina Buenaobra wrote: | | ]In future, all breaches of the User Agreement that result in account termination will have the Dhuum coming for them, if they are logged in at the time the account is terminated. |
Official word in the Guru "Recent Account Bans" thread is that ANet isn't banning for TexMod, KSMod, GWStats, or MultiLaunch, as long as players use the original developers' source-compile. They couldn't guarantee that any outside 'enhancements' made to these particular programs wouldn't keep their usage to their strict purpose, so they suggest not to bother if you can't trust it 100%.
ANet made no mention of the Drunkard "Bot", but logic would say that, since it's a Drunkard "Bot" and ANet is banning "Botters", that usages of a Drunkard "Bot" would surely qualify as "Botting". Catch my drift, or do I have to use a few more sets of quotation marks? ______________________ |

| The only thing with the drunkard bot is that.... it doesn't mess with anything game-wise. It just makes your computer click stuff off, so that bot, in no way, shape, or form, messes with their game, therefore if you're banned for it, it's total bs and anet needs to get off their high horse. |

| If ANet wanted you to get drunkard titles automatically they wouldn't have made it timer-based manual-click in the first place. Drunkard bots are forbidden for pretty much the same reason any other 'bots' are forbidden: it does the work for you. Whether or not it changes the game itself or hinders any other player is besides the point. You are taking a risk by using one that ANet will catch you and make you pay for it. ______________________ |

Somebody on Guru is trying to get May 26th, 2010 (Yesterday) turned into a Tyrian holiday named DHUUM'S DAY, lol. |
LOL
And I understand where you're coming from Steve. You know I didn't bot my drunkard title, and I never will bot because I don't feel the need to jeopardize my account either, but I just wonder how they KNOW you're using the drunkard bot if you're away from people, and it has no effect on the GAME itself. Ya know what I mean? |

They know if someone reports you (/report). Stupid players stand in crowds using the drunkard bot for 24 hours straight. Even still people legitly stand in one place and click off alcohol for hours and hours. For Anet to prove your using specifically the Drunkard bot program is near impossible. All they can do is look at your activity and find you have gained drunkard points for 12- 24 hours straight.______________________ |

| Yeah, which is why I call total bs, unless it's for hours and hours on end. I mean somewhere you're gonna slip up and not click for a minute or two, ya know? So I guess unless they look at that, it's about it. Lol And you can really only be banned for it if you're REPORTED by someone for that kind of bot, I'm guessing? Since they can't tell if you're botting or not? I dunno, I just know it doesn't mess with the game itself, it's just your computer. XD |

Al Habib linked to Guru's "Allowed Or Not" And Account Bans Explained thread above (good informative thread), but in that thread ANet was specifically asked about macros made using special keyboards/mice. Here is their response, as posted by SilentVex:
| SilentVex wrote: | Macros
I sent a request to support concerning macros built into game keyboards/mice. This is the response I got:
| Quote: | Hello,
You asked if your programmable keyboard was acceptable to use for playing Guild Wars. “What if…?” questions such as this are always tough to answer, because they have not happened yet. Nevertheless, I’ll try to give you an understanding of what we might consider “right” and “wrong” when interacting with our service as it related to your new keyboard.
Using your programmable keyboard as a normal keyboard would certainly be fine. A keyboard is a basic tool that is virtually required to operate a computer and use our service. Each time you press a key, one character is typed or one action is made to happen and, in general, that is acceptable.
If you were somehow able to use your programmable keyboard to fully automate your gameplay experience, especially to the point where you did not have to attend your computer while your keyboard software “played” the game for you, then that would be considered against our User Agreement and subject to disciplinary action. (“You agree not to use any hardware or software, including but not limited to third party tools, or any other method of support which may in any way influence or advantage your use of the Service which is not authorized by NC Interactive, including but not limited to the use of ‘bots’ and/or any other method by which the Service may be played automatically without human input.”)
Somewhere in between those two scenarios is a grey area. We can’t make any “final judgments” on any grey area actions that have not yet occurred, and we will not speculate on all possible grey area scenarios and their outcomes. In general, please make sure that you are at your computer and playing your game. Ultimately, it is of utmost important to us that each character being played in Guild Wars is being operated by an actual person.
We know this doesn’t provide a definitive rule that covered all possible scenarios, but still hope this helps your understanding of “helping one play” versus “playing for you” and what we would consider acceptable.
Regards, GM ApplePython The Guild Wars Support Team

Please note that the GKey macros can be used to create some pretty complicated macros that would very likely be bannable, so they can't be cleared completely. This is especially true for using them for a drunkard bot, which is stupidly easy to set up.
|
Macros used to automate simple functions should be fine. Macros used to mimic complex gameplay routines wouldn't. How simple and how complex, do you ask? That is the "gray area" of which ANet Support speaks. Tread with caution. As ANet warns, if you think it could be a bannable offense, then you are probably better off not using it and avoid taking the chance.
As for an auto-clicker, in essence it's only a "turbo" button for the mouse's left-clicker. Turbo buttons are used all the time for other games. I don't see why that would be bannable, to be perfectly honest. Then again, I'm not ANet and I don't make the rules. Don't take my advice. Use your own judgment. I have spent too much time building up my accounts to take a chance on anything borderline like that unless ANet gives the explicit go-ahead first.______________________ |

| Concerning the drunkbot, from what ive heard about it (people that have talked to anet) they look at chat logs. If your just there for like 8+ hours and dont say anything then they consider that using a bot. It's kinda stupid but makes sense imo |
