| Years ago only a 15 year-old girl would engage in such things. What the f*** happened? Guys, be men...

Sadly, in the Team Notch vs. Team Yogscast fanboy war that has already commenced, I'm on Team Don't Give A Shit.
You know, the release date for version 1.0.0 of Minecraft has been known for months, and still many of the important utilities I use haven't been fully updated yet. Apparently, INVEdit and LOLEditor (inventory editors) are behind the curve, as is MCEdit. Fortunately, the map-maker utilities Cartograph G, MCMap, and Minutor, as well as the in-game inventory editor mod TooManyItems have been updated. TooManyItems is awesome if you don't care about cheating, lol. Don't even have to leave the game to give yourself anything you want, at any time.
I actually skipped Beta v1.8.1 and all of the Beta v1.9 Pre-Releases so I'm jumping in to a whole new map from the old Beta v1.7.3. This is the first new world I've made since my original Alpha world, so... yeah. Minecraft is definitely a different game from the last time I put serious time into it (probably at the end of the summer). Sheep still need to be made to regrow their damn wool (hasn't been implemented yet), but for now I'll just hack in any wool I want to use.
I used the seed 'TideSwayer' for my new map. In the old pre-Adventure Update mapgen, it gave me a snowy world which I hated. Now it gives me a pretty awesome world with a huge ravine right in front of my original spawn point. ______________________ |

| Sounds to me like the Yogscast members let their super youtube stardom get the best of them @minecon.
Steve: mushroom+bonemeal = giant mushroom was pretty much the best part of 1.8
I skipped all the pre-releases because i was too lazy to pdate the game myself plus it would have ruined my mods... which stillllllllll haven't been updated. |

| It's interesting. I know it's hard to be consistent from version to version (new stuff gets added etc.), but I hate to think of the fact that my former super-cool seeds will be much different with every new release.
I used the seed 'Spellcasting' in 1.8.1 and it gave me a big hole near the spawn. |

I have every version of Minecraft backed up since the day I originally bought it back in August of 2010. I use Minecraft Portable to have always-installed versions of the major worldgen formulas that we've been through since then (items aside), so I can mess around when I'm bored:
Alpha v1.1.2_01 [2010-09-23 Update] -- This is the last version before biomes were implemented, back when you got either a grasslands world or a snow world
Beta v1.2_02 [2011-01-21 Update] -- The original biomes were implemented a few versions before this (the Alpha v1.2.0_02 Halloween 2010 update), but this was the last version before the save files were converted to MCRegion format. (Remember how many small files save files used to be? HORRIFIC!)
Beta v1.7.3 [2011-07-08 Update] -- The last version before Notch completely rewrote the biome code to add rivers, huge deep oceans, swamps, etc..
Beta v1.8.1 [2011-09-15 Update] -- This version was largely unfinished, without red flowers and snow, and terribly buggy and performance issue-laden, but it had a different version of the current biomes code
Minecraft v1.0.0 [2011-11-18 Update] -- What we have now (and I'm sure it won't be the final biomes revision either)
If you don't have Minecraft backed up, there's a utility called MCNostalgia that lets you downgrade to any version. I have never used it before so I don't know how it works.______________________ |

| REDSTONE POOP!!!!! Well I sure am glad they cleaned up the code. and Notch spent time making the water types blend. and instead he gives us the most retarded camera angle imaginable |

| Yeah, the borders between swamps and other biomes are sooooooooooooooo fucking ugly, and it doesn't help that swamps seem to be common as hell. I'd wonder what Notch was thinking, but he probably hasn't thought about it since the day he put the swamps in (despite the community cries for adjustment). ______________________ |
