On a recent trip into the Fissure of Woe with some guild mates, I was placed in charge of the Tower of Strength. When killing the Shadow Lord from inside, I noticed that the Shadow Mesmers attacking me appeared to have White Mantle symbols emblazoned upon the back of their necks. Should this lead me to believe that all members of the Shadow Army are merely the lost, tormented souls of the White Mantle, who we so ruthlessly slay on a daily basis?

Clearly adding the symbol to these creatures was a conscious design choice, rather than mere coincidence, so what can we take from this? Any theories on the true origin of the Shadow Army?

Everyone knows that to make the Shadow Army casters, someone on the Anet art team just took the white mantle caster skin and turned the brightness and saturation down in Photoshop.

furthermore why are they all wielding different weapons?

I believe all of the Shadow Army casters have 40/40 sets as well as 20/20 sets, but I've never seen an official statement on it.

lol yeah I was thinking that but then I investigated.

The shadow army monk and mes are completely different from the white mantle priest which is the closest resembling white mantle. They dont really look too much alike other than the headress.

I'm rather sure I read somewhere that the Shadow Army casters are reskinned versions of the White Mantle mesmers/monks.

The Savant ones or whatever.

You never know.

Maybe one of the Shadow Army will say "I'm your father" some day.

I heard that you are all auditioning to be Grand Marshall of the Rainbow Day parade in San Francisco and that this is merely a diversion for you.
