Awesome. Rays are a resilient bunch. Anybody that can make Kyle Farnsworth look decent knows what they're doing. Hell, the Sox had Casey Kotchman last year or the year before (forget), and he did absolute shit for us. Hit like a pro for the Rays though. As I said, something is wrong with the coaching/training within the Boston organization. Players get too many nagging injuries, wear down even though we baby them like no other team in baseball, make too many stupid baserunning mistakes, and generally don't live up to their resumes. It's a sign of bad coaching and conditioning - and it needs to change pronto.

Weird that you don't have cable in your dorm. When I went to college back in the late 90's we had cable plus a few college-specific movie channels that played movies before they even came out on video (can't even say 'out on DVD' since DVD players hadn't even gone mainstream yet, lol).

How is college going for you thus far? Good?

I have a cable jack in my room but they charge 40 bucks a month and I have netflix and Hulu plus so I really only miss out on sports but its not too bad. College is cake the classwork is little and easy so far but then again its all freshman classes. And the school is like 60 something percent females so not much else need be said.

Wanna hear some shit?

Quote:
On August 28, the Red Sox had a 99.92999% chance of making the playoffs.

That was an actual computed stat. Statistically, that's how improbable these past four weeks have been.

The Red Sox entered September in 1st place! On September 2nd, the Red Sox had fallen out of first but still had a 9-game lead on the wild card. Mother of fuck.

It gets even better...

Those shorter walls near the left and right foul poles of Tropicana Field that aided the Rays' 9th-inning game-tying HR and the game-winner in extra innings (neither one would've been a HR otherwise) were intentionally made lower a few years ago so the Rays' star at the time, Carl Crawford, could rob homeruns and light up the crowds.

Crawford is just a fucking jinx and a half for this Sox team. Holy hot shit in a handbasket. Plus, he has a sperm cell tattooed on his neck. No shit. It's even more awkward looking than that tribal thing Mike Tyson has tattooed on his face.

Well, it didn't take long for the shitstorm to brew up in Boston over the collapse. Terry Francona is already out as manager, which disgusts me, as he was easily the best Red Sox manager I'll ever see in my lifetime, and most likeable too. Only manager I'll ever like as much as I do the players. He thought he lost the team's ear and stepped down to (presumably) take a managerial job somewhere else. Ownership in turn thought Francona didn't do enough to stop the bleeding and more or less didn't want him back regardless.

That sucks. It NEVER ends well for any prominent sports figure in Boston. NEVER. Change can be good though, so we'll see how it goes.

Lots of shit flying around about how dysfunctional the Red Sox were this year. Apparently we had players drinking beers in the clubhouse during games in which they weren't playing, nobody felt like doing extra workouts, the pitchers weren't talking to the position players, and many of the older veterans tuned out and kept to themselves, refusing to let any of the fresh blood into their inner circle. Didn't function as a team, but more a collection of individuals doing their own thing. Also, John Lackey is divorcing his wife who is suffering from cancer, which is rolleyes-inducing. Adrian Gonzalez blamed late Sunday night schedules (Red Sox get a lot of 8pm Sunday Night ESPN Baseball games due to their status as a high-profile team) for the Red Sox difficulties even though the Yanks had those games too and did just fine. He also blamed the Red Sox failed season as something not in god's plan or some shit instead of taking blame himself for having a terrible second half. As much as Crawford pissed me off, at least he manned up, answered all reporters' questions, and accepted responsibility for his poor season being part of the reason for the disappointing result.

Just a shithole atmosphere all around, it seems like. The older veterans tuning out newer players isn't surprising to be honest. Those still around from the 2004 or 2007 title years are treated like Gods in New England, so it was only a matter of time before it went to their heads a little. Hopefully all this 'entitlement' shit and other crap getting out into the open means things will settle down and everyone can get on the same page going forward in the long-term, but I'm certain it will only get worse in the short-term as more truth comes out into the open. That's the way it always goes in Boston. After winning two titles and having great ownership and front office I thought that the circus had (finally) left town for good. Guess it's back again. Sad

Sad part is, as much as was going on behind the scenes, the team was still the best team in baseball for most of the season. Unbelievable when you think about all that untapped potential this team had if injuries and egos weren't a factor.

...And now, rumors flying that our GM Theo Epstein will be heading out of town too and take the GM job for the Chicago Cubs. Evil or Very Mad

What a madhouse my favorite team is. I'm so fucking pissed off right now. This team can't ever just have a lost season without all kinds of other bullshit and drama going on behind the scenes.
