| A compilation of some of my favorite footage of Guild Wars 2. I seem to be more enthusiastic about keeping up to date about new info than most other guildies, so I am fine with taking the time out to provide anybody interested to be what I consider the most interesting footage. However, if anybody wants to post footage they like then I will add it to the original post. PLEASE NOTE: The parts of a series of videos that I have linked do not include the part that is embedded in the thread.Demo 1 (Gamescom 2010, Paris Games Week 2010)| Quote: | | The first demo available to the public was presented at gamescom 2010 in Cologne. In this demo four classes (Elementalist, Ranger, Warrior and Necromancer) were playable, with necromancers' debut. This demo allowed players to experience human starter areas, as well as Queensdale and Divinity's Reach, and the Blazeridge Steppes as a mid-level charr with a chance to participate in the Slay the Shatterer event. It also introduced most of the systems in the game, including dye system, trait system, achievement system, etc. |
+ Developer commentary. + Pretty much the first footage everyone saw of Guild Wars 2. + Good combat footage. - A lot has changed/been revealed since then.
Demo 2 (Gamescom 2010, Paris Games Week 2010)
| Quote: | | Originally prepared to debut at PAX East 2011, some information of this demo was leaked through GameTrailers.com and other media soon after GDC 11 was held. In this demo players could tour Gendarran Fields and Wayfarer Foothills, which is the starter area for norn characters, and allowed players to create guardians and thieves in addition to the classes of the first demo. The UI got revamped, and the crafting system was introduced. |
Parts: 1 3 + Fantastic gameplay. + Three skilled players own a centaur camp. <3 + Fantastic developer commentary. + Vigil Keep in Part 3. + No background noise/Decent audio quality. - Bad visual quality.
Demo 3 (Fanday, ComicCon 2011)
| Quote: | | This demo featured the additions of underwater combat and engineers. The UI was slightly changed, such as the casting bar and menu bar. Like the second demo, the zones available were Gendarran Fields for charr and humans and Wayfarer Foothills for norn. Ascalon Catacombs, the first playable dungeon, was available in this demo at Fanday and the associated press event, but not at SDCC. |
+ Good developer commentary. + Good combat footage, including the (new at the time) underwater gameplay. + Fantastic visual/audio quality. + Explains the Engineer class well. + Giant fishy! - Energy has since been removed.
- NOT ACTUAL GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE. - I was dumb in saying that I thought I saw some actual footage, but there is only screenshots and blog posts describing peoples' experiences that I could find. ~ If anybody actually has gameplay footage then feel free to post it here. + Good combat footage. + Pretty environments. + Fantastic visual/audio quality. + Impressive visuals that encompass what GW2 will have well.
Demo 4 (Gamescom 2011, PAX 2011, Eurogamer Expo 2011, Paris Games Week 2011)
| Quote: | | This demo allowed players to experience all five races with seven revealed professions. The available zones of the demo were the starter zones of charr, human and norn. Sparkfly Fen, the new mid-level area, featured asura, sylvari, with three other races, as well as underwater combat and a boss fight. Structured PvP and physical appearance debuted in this demo, too.[1] Significant mechanism changes took place in this demo, including the removal of energy potions and energy use of skills; traits were disabled temporarily as a result of this revamp. |
+ Includes many areas and enemies of the zone visited not normally seen in most other demo footage. + Player is quite skilled. + Barely any background noise. + Idle, automatic character speech is represented well in this video. - Cam is shaky at times. - Player is British.
Parts: 1 2 3 4 5 6 8 + Cute footage of the start of a Norn character. + This footage goes the furthest into the Norn starter area that I can find. + No background noise. - Meh quality.
Parts: 1 2 + I love this video because he goes deep into this multi-level crypt place and basically gets lost. But I think it's a great example of how much the z-axis will not only affect combat but how large each zone will be. + Interesting environments - Player sucks. - Meh quality. Quite dark footage too. - Background noise. - German demo I think. + Despite those though, this is one of my Top 3 videos as of October 2011.
+ Fantastic audio and visual quality. + Sylvari antagonists encountered. + Gorgeous cave exploration. + Player is quite skilled and uses his skills creatively. - You may want to skim through the mini-boss part, it gets boring and repetitive.
Parts: 1 2 3 + Good/Okay quality. + Developer commentary. + Includes footage of the "PvP lobby area". + Player is skilled. + Shows a lot of different parts of the game (this part has some good PvP footage).
+ MUST WATCH if you want a grasp of how personal story works at this point. + Shows first 2-3? missions of a Blood Legion Charr! + Brilliant visual/audio quality. + Glimpses of very awesome environments. - Player sorta sucks. - Unfinished demo voice work lolololol.
+ Fantastic combat footage here. + Player is really good for a non-developer and understands the game. + Good footage of the Warrior, Thief and Guardian here. - Poor visual quality, - He plays music as he had bad audio quality. You may want to mute the video and listen to something else. - Frequent skips in the editing. - You may want to skip the intro. - He went to the same place in all three videos basically.
Parts: 2 + Skilled player. + Fantastic use of the Elementalist profession. Almost makes me want to play an Elementalist. - Does not leave the same area.

| I will add more footage but it took me a while to piece together that and find certain videos and I need a break.
Good footage off the top of my head that I plan to add: • A certain demo video of the first demo if I can find it again. • The developer walkthrough of the second demo. Featured a Thief, Guardian and Warrior banding together to plow through a centaur camp in Gendarran Fields area. It was win. • Footage of the dungeon introduced in the third demo. • A certain demo of a skilled player with an Elementalist in the fourth demo. • Footage of a player swimming underneath the undead ship during the event in the fourth demo. • Footage of the human starter area where the player went quite far into the zone. • One of two certain videos of the fourth demo that finally gave me a good idea of how the DE chain system will work. ETA: • How could I forget!? I found some amazing videos of the first 3-4 personal story missions of a charr. Definitely need to post that too. ETA: • Footage of the third demo that included defending an underwater quaggan camp and swimming through some pretty cave tunnels. ETA: • I also have some well-edited combat footage from a pretty skilled player of at least three different professions during the fourth demo.

| This is the worst thread I have ever seen. It looks like it was put together over about 1.5 minutes and not a whole morning looking for things to post. This is a half-assed job and you should be ashamed. |

| Honestly I don't know what impressed me the most, the awesomeness of the thread, or why didn't we ever think of making this before. |

| I've added most of the videos that I listed in the second post (honestly the ones remaining aren't "must-watch" but I will see if I can find time to find them for completion's sake). Enjoy. |
