Yah, I made the twitter account mainly because everyone else's design portfolios had one. Plus it's nice to have because a lot of people post some quality information up their (ex, releases, projects, designs, tech rumors, code, etc...).
I haven't gotten active enough on it to post stuff all the time.
My broadcast communications professor said he visited a few private schools for a speech and he said a lot of the professors are now requiring that you have a twitter account and you have to tweet during class. Instead of having one projector in the class they have two. One for viewing the class twitter wall and the other for lectures.
Don't ask me how that all works out, but that's interesting.
